Why fill out the CSI survey after boat purchase?
Another survey? I am so tired of filling these out! That is what most of us say when we get one in the mail.
There are 2 very important things going on with a CSI survey. One is a report card on how the dealership performed during and after the purchase. The other has to do with the actual boat. You are giving a report card on the vast planning, engineering, and effort put into the design and build of the boat. Let’s take a moment to explain why the CSI score is so important.
People’s perception is a huge determinant in the value of a boat. What do you do when you consider buying a used car? Check the NADA values correct? Where does this value come from? The CSI surveys! If you are looking to buy a Subaru, you want to know what people are saying about it. If people say, “wow that’s a great car and it lasts forever” you are going to like it more. If people say, “that car is known for poor craftsmanship and lots of repairs” you are most likely going to steer clear. The CSI survey asks the new owner about all aspects of the vehicle, engine, electronics, upolstery, appearance, etc….
How does a dealership get paid for warranty work? One of the ways our dealership is paid is based on our CSI score. Let’s say you need somehting fixed on your boat, and it is out of warranty? If our dealership has a good CSI score, the manufacturers tend to give us a better warranty payback, and tend to go above and beyond to help us out. They know we take good care of our customers and want to help with that. We both want to keep our customers happy and satisfied.
In a nutshell, filling out a CSI survey impacts many things. The value and resale of your boat, and every person who worked to bring it to you. Buying a new boat should be a fun experience. We take that very seriously. We want to see our customers enjoying their new investment.
